Her body was discovered by a road construction member near the Angeles National Forest in November 1995, who was emptying trash cans in the parking lot when he came across images of Linda. Following the further inquiry, it was discovered that photographer Charles Rathbun, who initially informed authorities that Linda’s death was an accident, was the murderer. Linda had met Charles at a picture session and the two had collaborated on several projects. Charles took Linda to the woods in Los Angeles for a photo session, sexually assaulted her, and then strangled her to death. He later buried her remains at a Los Angeles cemetery.

In contrast to what the inquiry revealed, he informed the authorities that he had inadvertently struck her and killed her. Rathburn was found guilty of Linda’s murder and was sentenced to life in prison. Sobek’s case was also shown on December 8, 1995, and it was a high-profile case.
